Early Years
Born Vanessa Kay Kipp in Chico, CA, she moved to Alaska with her parents when she was seven months old and has lived in Alaska
since. Music has always been a part of her life; writing her first song at the age of 12. Picking up a guitar
at the age of 14, she found her instrument of choice. Altho thru the years Vanessa has had to lay her music down, never has
it been far from her heart. Her first tour was with a blue grass band called 'Fritz and Co.' in 1973, traveling
from Valdez, to Anchorage, to Homer. Incorporating a mixture of popular tunes and her originals, this tour lasted one
and a half years. Even then she was known for her wonderful song writing abilities. After marriage and children,
Vanessa was able to pick up her interests in music once more; and it was then she stumbled upon a very unique finger picking
style on a classical acoustic guitar and her music of today evolved from that time. Born of a desire to have the guitar be
more than just 'rythum' or 'lead'; she developed a style to meet all of those needs often with the base strings providing
a fugue-like background while the upper strings support the melody with a combination of individual, double, and triple plays
of the strings becoming the 'rythum' and fullness of instrumental sound for her rich sultry voice and style. This one of a
kind finger-picking style has become 'instrumental music' in its own right and can be played by itself as such. Very unique.
Her ability to write songs is almost classic; with excellent lyrics and cadence. Her stylish way of presenting
her voice thru her melodies designed to blend with the acoustic guitar and her ability to play numerous styles within her
style also carries the variety to meet just about anyone's tastes.
'The Gypsy Lady'
'My vibrations run thru your soul Like water runs thru every stream of life And the love that I feel here deep inside
Overflows like sun and rain into your mind.' -from 'The Gypsy Lady' C. 2001

Description of Songs
Everyone seems to have their favorite; from 'The Internet Love Song' which is so popular online
and off, to 'Summer Dreams' which is her producer's choice. Many like the sultry edge and waves of emotion and strengths provided
by 'Living on the Edge' and of course, 'The Gypsy Lady' is a favorite of many and coupled with her daughter's flute playing
it captures your heart forever. 'When I Touch You' gives an excellent example of her unique style and technical side of her
fingerpicking becoming a guitar instrumental in its own right; while 'Sweet and Low' is a favorite of the younger crowd. Many
say that 'Cold Cold Waters' will just mesmerize a person; while others say that 'Hearts Like Wolves' brings memories long
forgotten. 'Baby I Love You' is one of the studio's favorites rich and sultry in its style, while 'River of Rain' presents
yet another fine example of her guitar fingerpicking style being a rich classical instrumental sound. All in all, there seems
to be a song for just about any taste yet within the same given style. Very versatile music writing and guitar playing; artisticly
presented with flair. This CD is virtually a live recording; very difficult for most musicians to accomplish with any quality
of presentation without tracking and sterilizing. What you hear on the CD, is what you would enjoy any time you attended one
of her performances live. The studio commented that she must 'live and breathe' her music to accomplish the recording of an
entire CD of quality music in only a few hours.
"Love doesnt grow in the Cold Cold Waters" "Love doesnt fall from
the sky in words..."
--C. 2001 Vanessa Kay Kipp (Fry) Cold Cold Waters
Wild Alaskan Rose has now grown into 'Wild Alaskan Roses' with the addition of her daughter,
Alexandria Lynel Fry; who adds flute to each track of their newly released CD 'Another World'. Recorded basically live, what
you hear is what you get when we're in performance. The song 'Another World' was written for my dad, and Alex's grandfather,
Glenn J. Kipp who passed away in 2002. The CD 'Another World' is dedicated in loving memory of my father, who in the physical
world never had the chance to listen to his song; but in spirit, has smiled many times since. 'Another World' is a very special
song that I do hope you all listen to...
'Warrior' and 'Another World'' are online in mp3 format for your downloading
and listening pleasure. All she asks is that you turn someone else on to the magic you will find in those two songs.
